JULIEN DAVID & HIROSHI NAGAI, THE WAVE 90 x 90cm soft silk twill scarf, made in Japan.
We started the process to translate the amazing painting by Hiroshi Nagai into silk in December last year, we tried to respect the colors and details of the work so we can share with you Nagai san’s art. Only 75 pcs total of this scarf will be done, delivered in 2 batches.
Hiroshi Nagai was born in Tokushima Prefecture Japan on December 22nd of 1947. In 1975, Nagai San visited the United States, where he developed an interest in pop art and surrealism. This trip inspired him to make drawings from his love of landscape. Most of his paintings are based on a summer environment in US and Hawaii locations. Over the years Nagai San has worked on album cover illustrations for the most iconic Japanese pop music. It all started with a commission from Eiichi Ohtaki who requested Nagai San to collaborate on a picture book "A Long Vacation", published in 1979, Ohtaki San was inspired and composed songs influenced by Nagai San’s painting, this led to the release of his album on March 21, 1981. Many people took notice of Nagai San's summer paintings and commissioned him for similar works which resulted in Nagai san designing album covers for a vast amount of musicians in Japan and internationally; as for the relationship between Nagai San and Ohtaki San, the two still collaborate to this day.
We are extremely thrilled to introduce this special limited item and we would like to thank again Hiroshi Nagai for accepting the offer and sharing his amazing and unique talent
